About AltEd
Home education in the UK has roughly doubled since 2020 — and the tools haven't kept up. AltEd is our answer: one portal where families plan and record the learning, and the tutors and providers they work with share the same page.
What we're for
Families choose home education for the freedom, then drown in the admin. The plan, the diary and the money deserve one calm home — so the freedom survives contact with a Tuesday.
The UK's Children's Wellbeing and Schools Act 2026 means every home-educating family will need to show organised records. A record that writes itself as the weeks pass beats a scramble every review.
Tutors and families work best as partners, not counterparties. Shared sessions, shared records and a shared ledger take the friction — and the awkward money chat — out of the relationship.
Where we are
No invented customer counts. No glowing reviews we wrote ourselves.
AltEd is early. We're a small team rebuilding the portal in the open: the sign-in experience, the billing ledger with card payments and this public site are live, and the role-based dashboards are being ported over feature by feature — the changelog shows exactly what's landed.
We won't pretend otherwise with invented customer counts or glowing reviews — the quotes on our pages are labelled as illustrative until real families and tutors say it better than we can. What we can promise: UK-first design (GBP, UK English, local-authority framing), no advertising, no selling of data, and provider pricing that is never a percentage of your revenue.
If that sounds like a portal you'd want to exist, the best way to help is to use it and tell us what's wrong with it — we read everything.
