Write up your child’s education
If a council has asked you to describe the education your child is getting, this puts it into a document you can print or attach. Fill in what you know — it doesn’t have to be complete, and there is no required format.
Nothing you type here leaves your browser. There’s no account, and we never see it — a draft is kept on this device only so you can come back to it, and Clear everything removes it.

A few honest things
- There is no required format. A council cannot insist on a particular template, and a well-written letter is just as valid as this. This is a starting point, not a standard.
- This is not legal advice, and we don’t submit anything to anybody. What you do with the document is entirely up to you. For what actually applies to you, check GOV.UK and your own council.
- Nothing you type is sent anywhere. The whole thing runs in your browser. We keep a draft on your device so you can come back to it, and the “clear everything” button removes it.
- Writing it once is the hard part. If you find yourself reconstructing a year from memory, that’s the problem AltEd exists to solve — but this tool is free either way, and always will be.
Or keep it as you go
Or keep the record as you go
AltEd logs the days, hours, work and evidence week by week — free for the whole family — and on the Family plan assembles this document for you, with the actual figures rather than your best recollection.
