Give your child their own screen showing what they have to do — without giving them an account, and without them ever seeing what anything costs.

What it does

Children don't have AltEd accounts. You hold the record, and you decide what they see.

The learner's own page is a single, simple screen you can share with your child. It shows the work still on their list, what's coming up in the next week, and a Done button so they can tick things off themselves. When they do, it updates in your Assignments screen straight away.

It is reached by a private link rather than a sign-in, so a young child doesn't need a password. That also means the link is the key: anyone holding it can open the page. You can create a new link — or turn the page off entirely — at any time.

What your child can see

Work that's still to do, with its due date and any instructions you added
Their events for the next week, with the time and place
Work they've recently finished

What your child cannot see

Anything about money — no charges, no credits, no payments, no prices
Marks and feedback you haven't chosen to talk about
Any other child in your family
Your details, or your providers' details

They can mark their own work finished, and nothing else. They can't change a due date, set themselves new work, or reopen a piece of work a tutor has already marked.

Where to find it

Navigation: Learning → Students, then the ⋯ menu on your child's row → Their own page.

The page itself lives at a private address in the form /my/…, which you'll see in full when you open the dialog.

Step by step

Go to Students (/dashboard/students).
Select the ⋯ menu on your child's row.
Choose Their own page. The link is created the first time you ask for it.
Select the copy button beside the link.
Put the link on the device they'll use — a bookmark or home-screen shortcut works better than sending it in a message.

Create a new link

If the link has gone somewhere you didn't intend — a shared family chat, an old device you've passed on — replace it:

Open Their own page again.
Select Create a new link, then confirm.

The old link stops working immediately, so give your child the new one.

Turn the page off

Open Their own page.
Select Turn the page off, then confirm.

Their page stops opening straight away. Nothing is lost — turn it back on whenever you like and they'll get a fresh link.

What each screen shows

The dialog (your side) shows the private link with a copy button, a plain-English summary of what your child can and can't see, and the two controls for replacing or switching off the link.

The learner's page (their side) has no navigation, because there's nowhere else to go. It opens with a greeting and how many things are left, then:

My work — a card per piece of work with its title, any instructions, when it's due, and a Done button. Work that's past its due date says so in amber rather than red; it's a nudge, not a telling-off. When the list is empty it says they're all caught up.
What's coming up — the next week's events with the time and place.
Finished — recently completed work, struck through.

It works on a phone, and follows light or dark mode like the rest of AltEd.

Tips and good to know

The page is a genuine to-do list for the child, not a report on them. That's why there are no grades or percentages on it.
Ticking work off is the child's own signal. A tutor still marks the work separately, and that mark goes to you.
Search engines are told not to index the page, but treat the link like a password anyway.
If several children share a device, give each their own link and bookmark them separately — one link only ever shows one child.
Older teenagers often prefer this to being read their list. Younger children usually need you to open it with them.

Troubleshooting
